SAFEGUARDING
Safeguarding children and young people.
All staff at St. Thomas' fully recognise our responsibility for safeguarding children and young people. All staff receive regular Child Protection and Safeguarding training. Staff, Parent and Community Advisory Forum (PCAF) members and School Advocates can also access on-line training at any time.
Safer Recruitment
Our staff are committed to 'Safer Recruitment' - all staff including volunteers have been carefully selected and screened and all have had an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing work. Details of all checks are held within a Single Central Record. All new staff receive an induction including appropriate training.

Well-Being
The well-being of our children, staff and families are incredibly important to us. Do not hesitate to contact school if you have any concerns about your child's wellbeing. Mrs Beardsley is available at the start and end of each school day and of course you can also speak to your child's class teacher.
Mrs Powell, our Family Support Worker provides 1:1 support work to identified children Miss Johnston runs a lunchtime club with a well-being focus. This ensures that children at St. Thomas', who need additional support, can be provided with different opportunities each week. We are proud of this support that we offer and receive positive feedback about its impact from both parents and children.
Our site is regularly checked by an external Health and Safety company and the Caretaker works with them to secure any necessary improvements. The Caretaker carries out regular fire risk assessment checks and our emergency lighting and fire alarm system is regularly checked.

All school visits and events have a risk assessment completed and several staff have completed Visit Leader training.
At St Thomas', safeguarding is a fundamental part of our curriculum. Each subject area provides opportunities for discussions about personal safety, emotional well-being, and respectful relationships. Through engaging lessons, children learn to identify feelings, recognise trusted adults, and understand their rights. This holistic approach equips our young learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate their world safely and confidently.
